General
You are required to wear Georgia State’s official regalia if you attend Commencement.
It is important that all students planning to attend Commencement RSVP for the ceremony. The number of tickets allotted to each student is based on the number of students planning to attend the ceremony.
Yes. Degree candidates will be individually recognized onstage.
Honors cords can either be picked up at the Graduation Office or the Commencement Fair. For questions regarding eligibility, please contact [email protected].
The associate's, bachelor's, and master's ceremony will be held at the Convocation Center.
The Ph.D. ceremony will be held at the Rialto Center for the Fine Arts.
Rescheduling, postponing or, in some cases, cancelling the ceremonies due to weather can be very disruptive and disappointing to students and guests who have traveled for the ceremony or made plans following the event.
An immediate venue change will result in the lack of guest capacity, an untimely transition and insufficient time for setup needs at the Convocation Center.
The Convocation Center was built to host events such as Commencement and First-Year Convocation. Indoor ceremonies allow us to schedule in advance so students and guests can plan, and it removes inclement weather from our consideration.

Yes. All ceremonies will be available for livestreaming at commencement.gsu.edu at the date and time posted for each event.
Ticketing
The Commencement staff evaluates the number of tickets available to each degree candidate based on attendance numbers for the ceremony.
Tickets are not required for children under the age of 3 who can sit comfortably in someone's lap.
